Early Background

On Friday 3rd of November 1972, a son was born onto late Mr B B Yussuff and late Mrs G O Yussuff, Akimu Babafemi Yussuff (Femi). Femi was the youngest of three siblings - Kunle, Jumoke and Lola.

He began his foundation years at Grasmere Primary School, Stoke, Newington, till the age of five. He then migrated to Nigeria, where he lived with his grandmother, Mrs R Soyoye. He attended Ejire Nursery and Primary School until the age of 7, before moving onto Oworonshoki Community Primary School.  He made several friends and developed loved ones which he held dear to his heart into his adult days, including his good friend Emmanuel O who opened his heart and mind to Christ for the very first time. From this point, Femi would spend time after school praying with his friend. From a very young age Femi realised that the name Akimu was associated with naughty, mischievous boys, knowing that he was neither of these he took up the name Babafemi meaning ‘God loves me’.

Femi then went to live in Kaduna, where he attended Command Secondary School in Kakuri. During his time there, he built bonds with several classmates starting with his school Father (Femi.S). Femi smashed through many school records and his keen athletic spirit lead him to be called “turbo” by those around him. Some of his closest friends, Paul A and Salihu I, become a huge influence on him and his secondary life. He later joined the CSSKD92-Command Secondary School Kaduna 92, forming a life-long friendship with his peers.  Femi’s reputation tended to surpass him at this school; everyone always wanted to associate themselves with him because he was constantly willing to help others in their time of need.

After secondary school, Femi returned to England. He was a young bright man filled with excitement and enthusiasm. Femi then rented his first property with his brother-in-law Ibrahim K in Horsham and spent many youthful years there. Eventually he got his first job in an airport, where he was admired by all.

Whilst living in Horsham in 1993, Femi and Ibrahim shared everything together, especially food. Femi would always make up for finishing the last stew in the pot by buying the ingredients and leaving Ibrahim to cook the next pot. Femi would also bribe him saying “Bros you are the best cook ever”. Femi became famous in Crawley just for being himself; kind, helpful & always ready to listen to your worries even though he had no solution for your problem but a good piece of advice (as usual). He would never take no for an answer, especially when he noticed that you are looking concerned or bored – he always tried his best to make sure he leaves you laughing or at least in a better mood.

On April 10th, 2010 Femi married Celestina Ajobena in Nigeria. Many travelled far and wide to bear witness of their union. Femi and Tina were blessed with two handsome boys. First came David in 2011, then came Gabriel in 2016
